Jim Garrahy’s Fudge Kitchen located on Broad Street in Oxford

Jim Garrahy’s Fudge Kitchen has opened a new store on Broad Street in Oxford and chose Counterfit Limited to provide an ambient display for their fudge.  The counter has two display areas for maximum impact and a glossy black finish which complements the store.  The counter was made bespoke to the specification of The Fudge Kitchen and took just 3 weeks to manufacture, and only 45 minutes to install by the Counterfit team.  We are now working closely with The Fudge Kitchen on future projects.

The Deaf Cat is located in Rochester, Kent.

Pallant of Arundel, Arundel, W. Sussex, UK

Proprietors, Mark Robinson & Jonathan Brantigan, took the business over on the 1st May 2007.
Having previously worked with some of London’s most prestigious food retailers, including Selfridges, Fortnum & Mason and French cheese specialist La Fromagerie, they have a wealth of experience and a passion for good quality food and wine.

Mark and Jonathon worked closely with Counterfit Limited in order to achieve the perfect design for their store.  With such a lovely old building and support beams in the centre of the shop, the layout of these Europa Plus counters was paramount.  Many different designs were discussed and drawn up, but after many site visits and phone conversations an order was placed and the transformation of the shop began.

Being a small business themselves, Pallant of Arundel are keen to champion smaller producers. Whether sourced locally in Sussex, from elsewhere in Britain or from further afield, we endeavour to stock products of interest and quality that are not widely available in the supermarkets. These products deserve the finest display counters, and a choice of Europa Plus refrigerated serve overs and support counters, complimented with black granite worktops and kick plates, and a beech wood laminate decor certainly give the products and the shop the high class finish they are looking for.

Bean, Tunbridge Wells, UK

Bean is an independent shop selling a wide range of delicious handmade chocolates and fresh cream truffles, handmade crumbly fudge and old fashioned sweets.
Bean also has a smoothie bar, serving fair trade coffee, fresh fruit smoothies, over 30 flavours of thick ice cream milkshakes, mouth-watering cookies and muffins and (in our customers opinion) the best hot chocolate in town.

Counterfit Limited was invited to complete a design for Beans new smoothie bar on St Johns Road, Tunbridge Wells, in order to compete with other design companies from across Britain.  As always we worked closely with the owners in order to produce the best design for its purpose.

In this project, we decided to use a mixture of the Europa Plus counters with the Elegance bar counters, to give a modern feel to this trendy smoothie bar.  Serving all the above mentioned items, we included a chocolate counter, refrigerated counters, as well as an ice cream serve over counter and ambient high bars. 

The choice of decor was a red colour RAL 3000 which suits the joyful mood of the shop.  A Salgadas granite was chosen to compliment this colour, and it certainly does.

In order to keep the counters running smoothly, we designed them with straight glass at the same height as the ambient high bars; continuity throughout the project.

Representatives from Counterfit Limited were invited to the opening ceremony of the Bean smoothie shop and were only too pleased to attend.  An enjoyable evening was had by all.  www.beanchocolate.com

In a Pickle, Chapel en le Frith, UK

In A Pickle is a small coffee and sandwich shop located in the village of Chapel en le Frith.  Their target was to offer a family run atmosphere with good quality food and coffee at a good price. 

In order to do this we had to utilise space in the quaint premises.  A design was created for the front service counters using Europa Plus counters with an E32 decor system of Cherry laminate wood, mahogany trims and black granite worktops and skirtings.  Two refrigerated serve over counters were placed on either side of a 90 degree external support counter to give maximum visibility of products as well as an area for till service.

Clancys Coffee Company, Manchester Airport, Terminal 2 Arrivals, UK

Clancy’s Coffee Company are situated in Manchester Airport, Terminal 2 arrivals, and have been serving high quality take away coffee from their coffee carts for many years.  Proprietor Peter Hutson-Jones took the opportunity in 2008 to expand from these famous carts and began work on the shop in T2 arrivals, the first of many planned locations.

Peter contacted Counterfit Limited and asked us to meet with him on site at the airport to discuss plans and ideas.  He explained the concept he had in mind, as well as the menu and quantities he was looking to achieve.  From this meeting we were able to come up with the first design of the layout.  More meetings took place and a layout was decided.  The exciting phase of the project was to follow by choosing the right counters and colours to entice the waiting customers in for a coffee, and also perhaps a quick snack.  In the end it was decided that the Classica bar was the option best suited to Peters vision, along with a Europa Plus serve over counter in the same decor. 

Colours chosen were the Dark Oak decor, along with the Verde Brasil granite which hold a hint of green whilst looking black from most angles.  The finish was excellent as can be seen from these photos.

Bonghy-Bo Cafe Bar, Bath, UK

With its bright and breezy decor, lovely calm courtyard, laid-back tunes and friendly atmosphere, this spacious cafe-bar provides the perfect urban sanctuary. Oriental flavours feature in what’s a consistently impressive menu, with fried noodles and spare ribs enduring favourites.

To suit this bright and breezy style, Counterfit Limited designed a bar and food service area using their much loved Starnight bar and Europa Plus serve over counters. Straight glass was used to compliment the straight edges of the Starnight bar.  The height of the glass is the same as the high bar counters used, in order to give the same feel on either side of the shop.  These pictures show a glimpse of the counters during the installation process.  We will be revisiting Bonghy-Bo and its proprietor Katharine Tang to see this stunning feature in action. 

Bonghy-Bo has yummy cakes and puds, big selection of teas, coffees, smoothies and juices. As popular for wedding and birthday bookings as it is for simple, stylish enjoyment. Open Daily 9am-6pm but opening hours vary depending on the season and various local events - call them for updates.

Portuguese Coffee Shop, Warwick, UK

Proprietor Patricia Coleman-Taylor came to Counterfit Limited with the view to opening a Portuguese Coffee Shop in the historical setting of Warwick.  Offering fine Portuguese Coffee and a friendly atmosphere for passing trade and regular customers, this idea soon became a reality, and what better counters to use in a Portuguese Coffee Shop than Counterfits’ Kalos range from the Portuguese supplier Jordao Cooling Systems, located in Guimarães. 

The Kalos range is a slimline range of counters and has proved popular with many of our customers.  It is versatile and has many different options of glass and decor, as well as granite worktops, as do all of our models.

The pictures show how our very own installation team progress through the day.  We shall be revisiting the shop when in the area to see how Patricia is getting along, and will have pictures of the counters in action very soon.

The Monument, Lord Street, Southport

Our customers at The Monument in Southport saw the picture of the Classica bar along with Vision serve over counters, and instantly said that is what they wanted.  With a few alterations to the decor in order to match their designs, this is what they received.  The Vision 45 degree external  serve overs were situated facing the shop door and window, displaying their wide range of cakes and pastries to passers by on the busy Lord Street.
